I myself prefer "Worship" music over "Christian" music... I have found most of the bands who fall in Christian genre do a lot of tiptoeing around the Gospel and Jesus Christ, and make more mainstream music that occasionally mentions God so they can ride both sides of the fence... among my favorite Worship bands are David Crowder Band, MercyMe, Big Daddy Weave, Third Day, Casting Crowns... to the non-believer or someone who is new in the faith who misses the meaning of singing to the Lord before service, or after, and at any other time of the day really, it is to condition your heart to draw nearer to the Lord, to sing praises to Him, to lift Him up to His rightful place in ones heart and mind... singing songs was a way for people in the olden days to learn messages and memorize scriptures and teachings, before there were books - back then only rich people had scrolls/books... the Book of Psalms is a book of songs just like this, for this purpose, to teach, to share what God has done for His creation...I think you will find why we should sing praise and worship songs both old and new to the Lord here in Psalm 96... I'll leave it at this... "let those who have ears to hear - hear"...
Psalm 96; O sing unto the Lord a new song: sing unto the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing unto the Lord, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.
4 For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
7 Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.
8 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.
9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.
10 Say among the heathen that the Lord reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.
11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.
12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice
13 Before the Lord: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.
Maranatha !

My daughter listens to the 94.9 or whatever music all day long. She sings in the bathroom getting ready in the mornings, and all through the house. I am very proud to say her heart is filled with Jesus. So I have to grin and bear the contemporary stuff in the car because I want her to keep on keeping on. Inside I really would rather be hearing grandpa Jones singing will the circle be unbroken. Or Allison Krauss I’ll fly away. As Tom T Hall said, “ I’m not much on organ music five string banjos more my style”

I like the older contemporary music like Casting Crowns, Third Day, Mercy Me, etc. I do enjoy the traditional hymns in addition to the newer praise and worship music. Yup , this !
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

I really love to hear this old mans voice over worship music- not sure why but this old timers voice is extremely comforting to me.

I'm glad we have a choice at our church. And no, I don't thinks its wrong or anything, but I'm very much a traditionalist. Same. It is a very personal and individual thing, that which stirs your soul in reverence and worship. For me, the congregation singing in unison to time tested traditional hymns makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up and I feel "connected" with the Holy Spirit. I tried to get into the Praise Band worship songs, I get them , but they just don't do it for me. I understand their place however in the modern world, but I will die hopefully remembering the old hymns.

The words to some contemporary songs could be written on the back of a stamp. I'd rather sing something other than one continuous, repeating chorus.

Yes, I like both. I like the hymnal songs, and I like the contemporary music as well. I like MercyMe, Chris Tomlin, Mandisa, and Elevation Worship to name a few. I really like "Rattle" by Elevation Worship. If you choose, Google it. Turn the volume up. Thank me later.

My Father in Law was the Minister of Music in the Methodist Church for 60 years. My wife and I know nearly every old hymn that is out there! I love the old hymns and I like the new stuff as well. I think the important thing is what speaks to your heart at that moment.

I like a lot of Big Daddy Weave music. These guys are really good. We got to see them in a concert in Murfreesboro, TN last year. One of the best Christian concerts I've seen. The bass player, Jay Weaver, died of Covid just a few weeks ago. His brother Mike Weaver is the lead singer.
![[Linked Image]](https://sapgr.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/jc-patriot_guard_riders_logo-130x90.jpg) Family is everything! Life is precious. We don’t have forever. We have now. This moment. We can choose to love our lives now.

Our local Christian station played this one during the Christmas period. Beautiful song, well sung and profound message, good for any day, Lauren Daigle, Noel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Vwu-t7QRaE

A gifted singer- very questionable beliefs if you’ve listened to some of her interviews.
