From almost gone to the hottest big bass lake in Texas right now. Why, you ask?


COLEMAN COUNTY, Texas — Lake O.H. Ivie's water level is the highest that it has been in at least 20 years.

On Friday, Lake O.H. Ivie was 77.2 percent full, which is the fullest that Coleman County Game Warden Lee Morrison has ever seen the lake get.

Last year, Lake O.H. Ivie's water level was only 16 percent full, but the lake's water level has been even lower than that in the past.

Back in 2012, Lake O.H. Ivie's water level reached its lowest point when it was just 12 percent full.

Let's not forget it was basically left alone for years, outside the locals, like 20 people.....

Not too argue, but all our lakes drop and fill (eventually), very few pump out these pigs. Now the 20 fisherman comment has some merit to it. That water has to be really fertile or something, those bass didn’t grow 10 lbs in 1 year.

Where did you dig this up, its about 2 year old news. Lake is currently down to 53.9%

And it wasn’t at 16% last year

I would think if Falcon ever get close to full it might see some big ones caught also..Falcon is only 22% full right now..

Ivie is hot because of the water rise and tona of.cover/bait throughout the lake.

Its also hot.because everyone decent with livescope and hunting these big fish are fishing Ivie.

Bet if all of these people hit other lakes theoughout the state at the same.time, results would be similar.

I was there three days from the 6th to the 9th this month. Shocking is all I can say. We caught some fish, but it's the dam, Tigers, or the main lake channel. Unbelievable how low it is right now.

Ivie got up to 70+% in 2019, after the big rain in Fall of 2018.

Ivie was a good chance for a double digit back when it was 30 ft lower. Fill it up even half way and you get tons of extra cover. It's the same boom/bust cycle we see on all the lakes out here that get real low, except Ivie has better genetics and better off shore structure.

And "it's only the river channel" is 10 miles of river channel. IMO Ivie has always been really spot specific, not one of those lakes you can just go blind fish and do well.
