Anyone recommend a safe, clean, boat friendly place to stay near Alley Creek or Johnson Creek. Planning a trip in late March or April. It has been years since I've been there and had an rv then. No rv now. Will have my wife with me so needs to be safe, Thanks in advance

Stay in Alley park.. Get a tent and then rent a RV space for electric and your set. You will be safe inside the park.

Not really fished the lake for the first-time last year for the 4th stop of the Bfl cowboy division. Not many places to stay or eat, or to stay for that matter. We ended up staying in Jefferson, which was ok but not for a wife. There one gas station to fill up over around Johnson creek. As for the fishing, pretty fun i caught about ten keepers and lost a 6 lber and a 3 1/2. Had around 15 lbs and didn't get a check. Caught my fish on a chatterbait and sight fished a few. Saw a few fish on beds and felt I could win sight fishing, but fish were extremely spooky, if I had it to do over I would have stuck with the chatterbait. my point is, outside of fishing, not much for a lady, but pretty fun lake to fish.

Yes, quite a few years ago we would go every year when the kids were out on spring break. Always did good in Alley, Johnson, and Hurricane areas. There used to be some cabins outside of Johnson Creek campground entrance but don't know if they are still there.

If possible, I would go the first week or two of April if you plan on going... That lake gets absolutely pounded the last couple weeks of April and the part of May.

Bull Frog Marina right in Johnson Creek has nice Cabins to rent. They do require a 2 night minimum.

I recommend Bullfrog Marina to everybody that meets me there for trips.
