That add says everything you need to know about whether to use blue stren or not.

McCoy’s Mean Green 15 lb. Switched 3 years ago from Berkeley XT Green and have never looked back. Toughest mono I have ever used. Very little memory, and just enough stretch. All my rods have it.

Reality. What a concept!

McCoys Mean Green is fantastic line.

You should go pro catching fish like that.

Lol. I think I make more money in my day job. And I've never fished a tournament in my life. I just like to fish and have been doing it for a long time now.

That is what I used all the time many years ago with good luck. I started using Trilene Big Game line in the 1990's. I think I changed because the BG line was cheaper but very strong.

So I bought some 17 lb. in blue fluorescent. First Stren that I've purchased since the 90s.

I was fishing some shallow flats yesterday with a senko type bait. Fishing slowly as season and water temp dictated.
Caught a lot of fish but the biggest struck the bait so subtly that I did not feel anything.

I did notice the lure seemed to have found some hydrilla to hang up in so I gently lifted the rod.

I could see that glowing line inching toward me, straight on.
Knowing that hydrilla is not mobile, I reared back and old fatty was there.

I am convinced that I would not have been able to see my usual low viz mono in that situation.
Stren has a place and time.

"..The pleasantist angling is to see the fish
Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

+1

Big game if you want mono
P Line CX Premium
McCoys
Ande

Just a few that are better. 50 years ago Stren clear blue was my go to line but there wasn't that many lines to choose from back then.

all I use is big game 15# green/clear and p line copolymer in 15#, have 2 reels with braid but don't throw it much.

we were using p line cxx 20# for tarpon in costa rica, long bimini with 100# and hold on.

great lines.

I quit using it about 3 decades ago because I couldn't get it to hold a knot. I use mostly Berkley and Bass Pro lines.
