Speaking of Falcon, how sketchy is the lake to run? Live in San Antonio and need to break in a new motor soon. Seems like it's a long and straight enough lake to make that possible, as long as theres no hazards.

From the ramp in Zapata to the damn its about a 22 mile run, stay on the US side of the international markers so you don't run through the gill nets and you'll be fine.

Is TPWD without fault? Absolutely not! But when you compare them to the public fisheries management agencies from other states they rank very high.

they take all bass over 13 lb. and because of the DNA tests performed on Fork "overs" for three years in 17-18-19 they determined that if a bass gets to be 13 lb. no matter the percentage of Florida strain, they are worthwhile spawning. Which creates more fry to spread around Texas.

Only took em 25 years to figure that out..

No more numbers of fry produced due to inception of SAL.. Always had plenty of fish to stock.. Only limits were size and number of hatcheries available.. And of course there are some years when things just don't work out for numbers and production is lower than expected..

And to those that believe that, "Well the fish might have died anyway." Maybe so.. But honestly do you think the fish has a better chance of survival if you release her immediately after a quick weigh and photo session, or if you subject her to the rigors of the SAL program?

Dear TMD, I think you may be missing James’s point. He’s referring to the mortality rate. He wants those fish to have a better chance of survival without the extra handling and mileage. Also, a much better chance to pass on those genes in their home reservoir.

I agree. Handle those big girls with care, grab a quick pick and let them go.

Not trying to pick a fight, just sharing my thoughts.
