I just talked to a pilot friend of mine, he's convinced this is a huge problem. It affects ILS approaches, which are heavily used. also, it is supposed to mess with some onboard systems in the 787 max.

I'm assuming there will be a trillion dollar bill passed in the house to cover upgrading airplane owner's fleet with new electronics...all this is just posturing to get the bill moving.

Roll it out and see what happens, then regroup and address the issues if any are found.
No need to "nancy up" every issue Are you volunteering you and your family for all those flights as guinea pigs to "see what happens"?
