I am launching at Cypress Bend Park next weekend, have never been on this lake. I did buy the boat lanes chip. It looks like the boat lane is about a mile from the launch, if I am looking at the map correctly. Is it safe to run to the boat lane or do I need to idle out there? Thanks.

It's been a while, but you can run to the Boat lane from there. I think you run due west or southwest. There is some timber near the island, but I ran into the twin coves there during a Sealy tournament back in 2014.

It's safe just run straight and not veer left to much, there's a ridge to the left. Boat lanes are marked pretty good on the Louisiana side, Texas side are ok two or three are missing running south and few more running north, two different type of bouys, Red and Green and single white ones. Not bad but as for the chip i never had to use one been running those lanes before there was a gps.

They have markers coming out of Cypress Bend that will take you to the main boat lane.
