Lake is full and the fish are scattered. Lots of 1 to 2 lb fish with an occasional 4-5 lber. Largest caught at the lodge during our three days of fishing was 7-1/2. Numbers and what size being caught are on the Southwest end. Little activity up the river or up North. Usually baits of senkos, flukes, and large worms. Plum ol monster with dipped tail. Should get better by the end of the month as the quality fish move up. Definitely not the normal El Salto.

For the first time in a long time the 3 heavy hitter Mexican lakes are all slow, El Salto, Baccarac and Comedero. I am curious to see if they pull out of their slumps this spring.

Headed down the 2nd week of February. We were hoping the lake would go down a little and bigger fish would start moving up.

We were at Salto Jan 10-14...tough bite but I did manage to put a 10.65 in the boat on an 8 inch glide bait. We caught 4, 5 and 6 pounders on A rigs and farmed a couple of fish at the boat that were in the 8-9 pound range but the numbers were definitely not there for us or anyone else in camp. Jumped over to Picachos for our last day of fishing and got after them pretty good but never caught a 5 pounder.

Thank you, 1bassdaddy, That is a nice fish! That probably made up for the numbers being lower than usual.

It’s getting better every week. February and March should be awesome.
We were there 1/12 and 1/13 at it was slow.
I landed 13 and 27, 4.5# was the best
4th trip and lake had the most water I’ve seen there.

Heading out Wednesday for Maztlan, this year seems to be all over the place tackle wise. Trying to wrap up last minute packing, how was the fishing last week?

A buddy of mine is there right now. Texting me pictures of some BiG ones. They’re catching lots of big Mexican bass.
