OFF TOPIC: I drove over Willis Creek this morning. The creek was at normal level and extremely clear. I fished "The Steps" from the beach area upstream to where the creek enters. I only caught 3 bluegill. The water was crystal clear. There was a good flushing of the San Gabriel since last year. Part of the bank collapsed in one area. Good news is all that annoying cane is gone and I could actually back cast. I'll check it again in a couple weeks or when I hear some good reports.

Thanks for the pics, J-Moe. I drove out to Newman's yesterday. Started a good ways downstream and worked my way back to the low water crossing. Was hoping to find some crappie, but I instead found nada. Not even a bite. Definitely disappointing considering the water looked really good. I didn't see anybody else with fish while I was there. Not sure what's going on this year. Maybe I've just lost my fishing mojo.

Not sure what's going on this year. Maybe I've just lost my fishing mojo. I was afraid of that. You see, Somerville was made by damming up the Yegua. So Somerville is like the Yegua's baby. When you go around calling her Skunkerville the Yegua gets very angry. You should expect your ratio of lures lost to fish caught to increase drastically this year

I fished Irwin Bridge this morning. I found some small white bass bunched up. I ended up catching 16 in about an hour. Then the sun popped out and it shut down.

That sure is some clear looking water at Irwin. Looks more like a hill country stream.

How much rain did the yegua see this weekend? From what i see it didn't muddy the creek up!

The Yegua watershed only received a few small showers. Not enough to effect anything. The rain all moved east of the watershed.

Tough Friday on the Yegua.. fished 9am to 3pm from the kayak, charted fish in all the same places we caught them last time out. I thought I had the crappie figured out but they wanted nothing to do with anyone there.. I caught two small crappie around noon but nothing else not even a bump before or after the two.. TPWD is closing the park and trailway until Monday for the youth hunts but I doubt anyone with any sense would fish the creek with the cold weather we are getting this weekend... Fished the spillway from about 5pm until dark and caught fish the whole time I was there, crappie, whitebass, goo, buffalo, sunfish and a cat.. nothing of any size but did make the day!

Thanks Ben! Always a great way to avoid work... watching your videos. I keep hoping this is the week things pick up.

I went out and checked on Irwin and Newman Bottom on Wednesday evening. The water is back to normal level with very little flow. It is extremely clear as well. I tried fishing a few spots with no luck. A friend of mine fished NB from the Y on down well past the big pipes on Thursday and didn't get a bite.
Forecast is for 0.5 to 1 inch of rain tomorrow. The last rain was only 0.6 inches and it got some fish moving so let's hope the watershed gets at least that amount.

I went to Yegua on Wednesday afternoon, caught a small white bass at Irwin bridge and another small one at the big pipes. They put up a big fight.
