I am sure this has been asked a ton of times, but can someone recommend me fly tying hooks in the size ranging 14-18, that come in large quantities(100 packs) and are not too expensive but yet decent.

I am still learning to tie so I don't want to be using expensive stuff as I get better.

I am aware of Mustad 3366 but cant find anything smaller than size 12.

See if you can find a supplier that still carries or has Dai-Rikki hooks in stock. Use to use them a good bit. They came much cheaper than Tiemco or any of the bigger brands. Also look at the style of hook the 3366 you mentioned is simply a Clouser hook meant for a few patterns. Mustad has other styles that have applications for other patterns. Mstad makes hooks that go as low as #24. I used one of their nymph hook styles in #18, #20, and #22 for zebra midges and RS2s. Check out Feathercraft and JStockard or Charlies Flybox .

Check Amazon. They have several choices in the 10.00/100 range. Almost any tyoe or size. Good hooks.....I have used them several times!!!!

Allen hooks. A couple of times a year, they offer a 20 % discount. I think they get them from Korea, and I think you can find as small as 22s. Always good prices. I particularly like their N203 heavy wire scud hooks.

thanks for the recs. i ended up finding some cheap 100 packs on amazon. had a gift card so figured why not.
