So they walk up the black steps stand on the yellow triangle and fall in the bucket ?

you can't see it but there is peanut butter on the end of the yellow triangle, they fall into 3-4" of water and get to swim to their death. easy empty, pull lid and toss to the hawks.

I use a floating lid with either cat/dog food to lure them.

Im kind of partial to this method: get you a bag of cement...........use a sifter to obtain fine cement powder ..... mix in some corn meal or crumbled rice cakes in your case
and place this mixture in like a jar lid.

They will eat that, drink some water at some point, and when you find them they will be like little mice statues posed in different poses, kind of like little green army men

I just found where the little SOB (or SOB's) have got into my oatmeal packages and chocolate flavored rice cakes that I keep in my office credenza. Since they got the rice cakes, they will have to pay with their lives.

Question for the wisdom of the TFF is - 'do you cut around the part where the miceses have been eating and enjoy the rest of the rice cakes, throw caution to the wind and just chow down the rest of the rice cakes including the parts they have been munching on LIDGAF or do you throw away the entire package and hit the Wally World on the way home?'

Hey Stevejam like a peanut butter jar lid or a small plastic bowl, any plastic lid works well.

Thanks, looks like you just fill the bucket with water and float the jar lid in it right?

Think you should pitch them, buy new, get a Tupper Ware container with lid for future storage and PM "Hop" for mouse eradication advice.
