I'm thinking about getting a new Tundra and found out that they no longer put the 5.7 motors in the 2022. You can only get one with a 3.5 Twin Turbo which is a new motor for Toyota. What do you think? Good or Bad?

I'm sure it'll be a great engine combo, but personally, I try to avoid the first year of any new major redesign of a vehicle. Even the 5.7 had a few issues when it was new. Some were expensive issues, too.

It's not a new motor, been in their Lexus lineup since 2017.

I’m keeping an eye on them too. It might not be the right move, but I’m waiting to buy after some inventory returns. Luckily I don’t NEED to buy today. I’m very interested in test driving one.

I haven’t kept up with the Toyotas, this 3.5 is like an eco-boost (shared from ford) or their own design? Guess I should just google it.
If it’s like Fords, I’d have no problem owing one.

I read someplace that Toyota had fewer problems with their "new redesign year" stuff than others. Maybe their R&D is a little more comprehensive.

I read that Toyota has beat General Motors in sales for 2021. I guess they were able get ahold of more chips.

I bought the first year for Tundra in 2000 and it was the best truck I ever owned. Not one trip to the shop until I turned it in on trade for a 2006. The first year issues just don’t seem to be a Toyota problem. The new engine is far from being new.

This has me curious as our local Chevrolet dealer has lots of new 2022 trucks on the lot, while the Toyota store has none. I stopped at the Toyota place to look at the one they had and was told it was sold as were all of the Tundras that are coming in. Not saying you are wrong, maybe it is Toyota just can't make enough right now.

Either the chevy dealer just got a shipment in and in that case they will be gone in a few days or they have an outrageous markup and people are shopping elsewhere.

With the prices continuing to rise I went ahead and ordered a new one. They couldn't tell me when it would be in but I did get a locked in trade value on my 2017 and can still drive it until it does get here.

You may be spot on on the markup, as there were NO WINDOW STICKERS. I guess you have to ask them what they want for them. Their lot has been full for four or five weeks now.

There is a lot of info on the internet about the new truck. Most of it is positive reviews from actual owners. Good HP and torque and 10 speed tranny...might be a good move that Toyota made
