I have really tried to avoid the COVID’s.

My niece from LA just returned home from visiting to learn her roommate is positive. She spent a week here.

I hope that is enough time that we are all safe. Now every sniffle, cough, etc will be grounds for worry.

Some of my daughters co-workers have tested positive and have been out this last week.
She took the test New Years day and is waiting on the results.
Her and my throats are sore and she has a cough. That is all.

Sounds like you and her are in the clear if she's been away from her roommate that long.

My niece spent 4 days here with her one year old and left last Thursday. Today we get a text that both of them have it. We have another family gathering this coming weekend that now is in danger of not happening. We have rented a three bedroom house for the weekend on a lake that if we have to cancel it we will lose a chunk of change.

A positive test doesn't mean serious illness. My wife went over to help her mom and omicron positive stepdad, then came back home. She said we might get it. My question was "so what?" I've had a sniffle, cough, and sore throat before.

I'm not telling anyone else what to do, just commenting on my approach.

It's gone through all 3 of my offspring ,who all still live at home, in the last 9 days. It's very infectious but none was real sick. This Omicron variant is not very bad. 4 days with 1-2 "bad" days. No meds.

I definitely don't fear "it". I probably had another touch of it this go around too with headaches and a tired day (Mrs RayBob had it in late Sept. and I was symptomatic for a few days). I look at it as building my immunity.

I tested + for covid Friday, very slight symptoms, no fever. This is the second time I've had it. The first time (last December) I was basically asymptomatic. Was vaccinated in April 21'.

Had it. It was pretty bad but life goes on.

Interesting thread - especially given what is in all the news available on the interwebs about the Omicron varient.
I went to visit my Daughter and SIL in Dallas on Christmas day. They both work for one of the largest apartment properties in Dallas. Daughter is HR manager in an office with decent amount of people although she has her own office.

Both had been off since Friday. They went back to work Monday and a whole bunch of her office and a lot of other employees were out with Covid after Christmas. Early AM Tuesday night, she woke up with symptoms and fever. She tested positive on a home test. I put my N95 on hauled [censored] back to west Texas. She went to a drive thru testing site in Dallas Tuesday and again tested positive.

I had and still have zero symptoms but still quarantening back home. Her and I had very close contact in her car totaling over 2 hrs 4' apart and I breathed the same air as she and SIL did all the time we were in their apartment. She had a fairly light go of it and felt fine yersterday. SIL never got it this time and did not get it the first time she caught the original variant and had a pretty bad go of it 18 months ago. They slept in the same bed both times - I think he may be immune because he tested negative with the lab version of the tests. I apparently did not get it this time either. We've all been vaccinated and they both have had the booster. Something is not adding up between what I read on the news and these real life experiences.

I have a home test I bought when I got back but didn't see any sense in testing since I have had zero symptoms and checked temp every day since I got back home. I live by myself so easy to quaranteen.
Given the number of prople out of work at her office, I have no doubt it is very conageous but can't figure out why I didn't get it unless I did get it and completely asymptomatic. This is very confusing to me.

This is what we experienced with Omicron too, not great but not life threatening!
