All these years of being on the water all over the state as well as many other states I’ve never seen anything like this. I was working a row of docks today, heading back to the boat ramp when all of the sudden I stick a fish and I hear something. I look up as I’m fighting this fish back to the boat and there is a lawn sprinkler on the edge of the dock spraying me with water.

I sat there for a second in awe of what just occurred. Pulled the boat past the dock and BAM. There was one on the other corner as well that just sprays me down. I just started laughing at this point Ive never seen a motion sensor base for a sprinkler head until today

Thankfully I had my rain gear on as it was sprinkling on and off just before this. Make ya think of the legality of it as harassment to fishermen as it’s on public water

Either was I got a good laugh out of it

There's a dock on eagle mountain that does that. It's to keep the ducks off their dock.

I’m sure that’s what they say but I can assure you it probably isn’t

This one isn’t for ducks either

I would take a GW by there. Even if it’s for the ducks that is harassing wildlife which is illegal also.

Retirement best job ever.

I can think of a few reasons why those might be there....our dock on Palestine was broken into (from the lake) so that might have helped at least a little. And the mess herons, egrets and ducks make on the deck is super hard and smelly to clean. It will practically stain the decking so having a sprinkler spook them off would be nice. Not sure that would qualify as "harassing" wildlife.

There’s law against hunter/fisher harassment, just like verbal physical harassment from a dock. If you want it to stop get everyone you know go there and then call the game warden so he can fine them, enough hits in the pocket book they might remove them. They can claim duck deterrent but that won’t prevent a ticket.

I'd be calling a warden.
