This fall, fishing in our cove at Twok has been all over the place, mostly just dinks and eaters since the water has been low and the temps have been high. I did end up with a 8-pounder overnight last night on a pretty good sized Skipjack head. He had a chunk out of him like nothing I've seen before, but he was plenty feisty and didn't seem to be worse for wear. I hooked him in the corner of the mouth on the opposite side of the body from this wound. Think he got hit with a prop? Not sure what else could cause this. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/12/full-98758-122414-dsc_7634.jpg)

No kidding. I never knew that turtles went after fish that were still alive.

Turtles eat more fish and baby ducks than anyone would imagine.

More than likely especially on this lake an abandoned trot or jug line and he got lucky to escape it. See way too many of them now the water level is coming down

Big 'ol Turtle Sunday night something in the same spot beat the [censored] out of a 50-pound Big Game mono leader and snipped it cleanly just above the hook and float. Another Skipjack head was the bait, whatever got hold of it swam it halfway across the cove before breaking off. Have some 100-pound 18-inch titanium leaders on order, lol, I want to see what the heck is out there tearing stuff up.

Some sort of infection. A bacteria or possibly as mentioned a parasite.

Looks like he got hung up on a jug and then wrapped the line around his spine injuring himself trying to rub it off and get free. Injury got infected. We saw a ridiculous amount of lost jugs all over Twok in every section of the lake but tons of them were up in the sticks from fish that swam off and got in the sticks trying to get free . See them in every lake we fish. I hate seeing all that trash floating around. Wouldn’t be a problem if guys kept an eye on their equipment instead of leaving it unattended. I have been writing the TP&W the last 3 years. I see more rule changes coming in the future. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2022/01/full-99544-123049-90b52d05_e3bf_4cf3_b731_3043076c09fc.jpeg)
