My dad surprised me with a Henry 30-30 Christmas present I get home open the lever and can't get the lever to close.i have never had any experience with lever action so ask the OT what do I do?

I don’t know what to say. It’s been my experience not to force it at this point. Maybe squirt some oil in there somewhere.

Edit….after seeing the picture that silver thing doesn’t seem to be in there right.

Use your finger and depress the spring loading ramp just a tad...lever should go forward after that.

Still no luck

Bump the lever a little with the palm of your hand to see if will open further....

Henry's are made here in WI and they're mighty proud to say it. Your experience is inexcusable and Henry needs to fix it.

P.S. I and my buddy both own Henry rifles and they have been flawless out of the box. Hopefully yours can be fixed with minimal intervention.
