looking for insight on removing the shifter, so I can open up the side panel to pull heavy duty graph wires and remove old wires? I know there are 2 little screws under cap, then 4 long screws around inner bezel plus one black bolt on outer bezel. Any other tricks or things to watch out for?

instead of removing the screws on the top of the control panel, there's 2 screws in the underside. When you remove those 2 screws the entire Control button assembly will fall out. be careful so that you don't ruin any of the rubber part on the underside of that panel.
