get some wettable sulphur and spread liberally around the perimeter and pallets.
snake proofing. they can't handle sulphur.
the bag stuff from wally world works good. Studies have shown that sulfur is not an effective treatment to repel snakes. In fact, sulfur is more dangerous to have around children and pets. Sulfur will irritate a snake should it come in contact. Sulfur is good for chiggers, However, it causes more harm to a human.

Just try putting it in the fireplace. I think you're going to like the results much better doing it that way.

i just moved it around a bit and cut away the plastic under the slats in the pallets, so there is airflow. Next time I think I'll just skip the plastic altogether, seems like it was odd advice. When will i learn to ask you all first? Lol!
Also we don't NEED firewood for anything, so if I lose a few pieces to rot or whatever I'll burn it outside, or just toss it.
Thanks fellas

Put the plastic over the top of the wood to keep water from invading from the top this! Yep, been doing that for years. I've kept some ricks of wood up to about 8- 10 years by just keeping rain from penetrating the stack.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it !

Hello Folks!
I think I got some bad advice about firewood storage, I wonder if I should re-stack it.
I have half a cord of wood, on two wood pallets. When I got the pallets, the guy I bought them from (just 2$ each), said that I should put a layer of plastic or some kind of material between the pallets and the wood, so like this....
--wood --plastic sheeting-- --pallet-- --ground--
I did it, but I'm wondering if it wasn't bad advice. A plastic sheet between the wood and the pallet seems to defeat the purpose of elevating the wood, preventing drainage and blocking airflow under the pile. I'm thinking of un-stacking it, removing the plastic and putting the wood back on the pallets without the plastic barrier.
What do you think? What should I do?
Treat it like you would your own wood. Plastic wrap everything then pound sand.
