I'm sure those of us who have indulged in the past have a story or two to tell. This story has nothing to do with me thank goodness. My wife's best friend called this morning to tell a story about her 49 year old daughter's Christmas party this past weekend. In all fairness, the daughter is a hard working nurse, married, mother of 2 teens and rarely drinks. So the story is that she had a nurse friend pick her up at her house and take her a work Christmas party. At the party she had some drinks but not really in excess but they seemed to hit her hard. The next thing she knew she went to the bathroom and thought it was really strange that the party host had a bathroom decorated exactly like hers. She then decided she wanted to go home and called an uber to come and get her. In the time it took for the uber driver to get to the house and ring the door bell, she had a little time to sober up. It was then she realized her big mistake. She was already home. She did not remember leaving the party and did not remember her friend dropping her off at her house. When she explained to the uber driver what happened, he busted out laughing and said that was the funniest thing that he had ever experienced. She then tried to pay him and he said no because this story is going to be a great story. She said "you are not going to tell anybody about this are you?" to which he replied "lady I'm going to tell everybody about this". He finally took $25 because she insisted.

Be careful out there over the holiday season!

Day drinking got me thrown in the Universal City jail twice in the same day.

A couple of my friends got jobs in FTW right out of HS, and I would go visit somewhat regularly. I always slept on the couch, and there was a half bath by the front door of their apartment that always used. We went all over the Stockyards one night and one of my friends met a gal out on a bachelorette party. We all ended up at one of the bridesmaids apartments later that night with their entourage. At some point in the dark that night, myself and one of girls were sleeping on the couch and I needed to take a leak. I went to the door by the front door and let it rip, then settled back down on the couch. When we were leaving later that morning I had to go again, and opened up that bathroom door, only sober in the daylight I quickly noticed it was a coat closet with a bunch of wet bridesmaid dresses! I made a very quick exit as those girls were waking up.

I was worse than that Saturday.

Sales meeting in Germany…….the next morning was the worst hangover I have ever had. It was horrible




I didn’t feel right for days after that one.

How long have you got?

I heard someone say you have a drinking problem is you have ever had a blackout drunk where you can't remember what happened. I asked which of many I should talk about.

My wife probably saved my life. We have been married 26 years and I knew she wouldn't put up with that stuff.

I always got up and went to work. I figured I deserved the punishment.

I've given Cooter Brown a run for his money a couple of times.

I've been real drunk twice. Once when I was about 19. Got so bad off that my buddy, who was a professional drunk and partly responsible for the condition I was in, had to drive me home in my Dodge Challenger that nobody got to drive. Sitting in the passenger seat with my head on the door with the window down I started throwing up. I turned my head enough not to get puke in my face but it blew all into the back seat.

Last time was about 17-18 years ago sitting on my neighbors front parch drink JD Old #7. I drank most of a fifth and really didn't feel very drunk . . . at first. It was a great evening in the country, watching a few cars pass on the dirt road, swapping tales, talking guns, wimmin, and old times. Finally got dark and I stood up to get on my 4 wheeler and almost fell down. He offered to drive me home but he'd drank quite a bit of GlenLivet so I figured I'd take my chances on the 4 wheeler. Whew . . . what a ride home . . . about 1/2 mile. I remember getting home and just leaving the ATV by the steps and stumbling in. Mrs RayBob told the kids to go to bed. I remember calling Ralph several times that night.

I refuse to get that soused now fo sho. It's just no fun !

We tend to drink a little too much around the holidays. Well, this past Saturday, we were out at a Christmas party with friends. We had a few cocktails, followed by several shots. Despite the jolliness, we still had the sense to know that we were over the limit. That's when I decided to be a responsible drinker and took a cab home. Sure enough, there was a police road block on I-20 but, since it was a cab, they waved it past. We arrived home safely without incident. This was a both a great relief and surprise because I had never driven a cab before. We don't even know where we got it from and, now that it is in our garage, we don't know what to do with it.
