I just saw on a Crappie Guide's Facebook page that Gibbons is being closed permanently. Anyone know?

Not a bad deal, good fisheries stocked with state money then closed and sold. Only losers are the tax payers.

Didn't they close Montecello when they shut down the power plant for good? I'd heard they shut the gate and put a lock on it.

Can TP&W not recoup the cost of stocking from these lakes that close access to the public? Something doesn't seem right here, I completely understand private ownership & all that, but I paid for those fish I cannot catch anymore so the State should be reimbursed, imo.

The list just keeps growing of closed/closing public funded fisheries. Aggravating.

A friend of mine is there today and yes it is closing Sunday will be the last day. He also asked about the lake becoming a private membership fishing lake the person working at the guard shack could not answer that question.
