I finally tried hi-vis line and it's awesome. Much easier to watch your line for even the most subtle bites. I went with the good ol Mr. Crappie in 4lb. Can't beat 500 yards for like 4 dollars. I like everything about the line with the exception of the coils laying on the water after a cast. It has some memory. Is there any way to get this line to straighten out?

Remove the spool from the reel and soak the line/spool for half an hour or so in a 50/50 mix of liquid fabric softener and water. Be sure to rinse it off after soaking and lube the spool.

Just buy the line conditioner sold at many stores.

Fish more often, don't let the line dry out.

BPS sells 2 kinds, I’m sure online stores also have various brands. Just make sure you shake it up well before spraying your line and let it soak in a little ahead of time for maximum help.

KVD's is what I use. Works best if you spray the reels before leaving for the lake.

And stretch the line!

Back in my college days , we fished a lot of soil conservation lakes in western Oklahoma. We fished out of float tubes, great fun. Fished predominately with plastic worms. It became a ritual to tie our line to the bumper hitch and stretch the line before getting into the water.

Tried line conditioner. Applied the night before I went fising. Didn't seem to do much.

What's this about stretching the line?

Stretching is a temporary fix. Memory will come back.

Hard to do in a boat, that is why we would do it before we got in the water. Tie to an object , back off a distance of a long cast , and pull to
about half the breaking strength of the line , hold for a few seconds , repeat until the line lays straight when you release the tension.

David...Here is something you might try...It is what I have been doing for a few years now. I use Stren Flourocarbon (4-12 lb. test) exclusively. After you get your new spool...clean off the label & all the glue that holds the label on...Alcohol or WD40 works good for this. Then immerse the spool of line in a bucket or bowl of tap water...leave it in their for about a week. After a week take it out of the water...dry it off and spool it on the reel correctly. (like off of a pencil) When you get the spool about half full, spray it down with the KVD line conditioner. Also spray it down one more time when the spool is full. This is an easy way to eliminate a lot of frustration when on the water...

This ^^ is what we do as well, and when idling out, throw a crank bait on and let out ALL your line just like trolling. reel it in and go fishing, Works great

We use the same Mr. Crappie on all 10 of our spincast reels. When the line starts to coil, which is usually after about 4 trips I just change it out. It's cheap enough that it doesn't hurt the wallet! I buy it in the 2000yd mega spools in bulk and get them for $9 a spool
