I hit a doughnut shaped Oyster reef in Mesquite Bay. Ended up in the middle. Broke the push pole in several pieces trying to get out. Dark closing in. Thinking about how bad the night was going to be. One guy comes along on my way out and we get it out. Whew!

The man that owned/operated the Bass House in Lake Dallas hit a sand bar or extentended point on Ray Roberts, tore him & his stuff up pretty bad. My memory is terrible with names, but this one was pretty bad @ the time. Personally, the mouth of Pecan on Lewisville got me pretty good last winter. Nasty arse mud.

If you haven't fished a river...you haven't hit a sandbar.

I hit one a few years ago...brand new boat no more than a month old. Running South on the Colorado River in Yuma. Was supposed to stay in the middle and came around a blind corner...45 to 0 in a second. AHAHAHHAHAHA

After 3 hours, a massive jet boat, and bummed ego, it finally got unstuck.

My lower unit is sanded down...was black and now bare metal. I leave it as a reminder to know the path before going all out.

I bought my first boat and stuck it first time out. The previous owner cut the transducer off and the depth finder was running in demo mode. Thought I was in 20 feet of water and then stopped suddenly after 5 minutes of boating. Spent the rest of the day digging out. Not a good start.

I skipped across one in the dark on Texoma, this was before GPS, I thought I was running off to one side of it, wrong. Did not do any harm but sure made me pucker.

Funniest one I ever witnessed was at Ray Bob when the lake was dropped about 18 feet one summer. My partner and I were fishing what looked to be 100 yards "offshore". But those who know that main lake point know it's shallow for a looong way out there. We're fishing the dropoff and from around the corner comes a pontoon boat full of adults and kids and they're about 30 feet off of the visible shoreline. I told my partner "this in not gonna be good", so we started waving and yelling as loud as we could trying to get them to go around us. They smiled and waved right back...for about 10 more seconds. They went from about 20mph to a dead stop in about 15 feet. Dang near everything in that boat including the people shot forward off the platform and into the water or towards the front of the boat. Luckily just a few minor cuts and bruises. Too bad we didn't have cell phone cameras back in the day...that would have made a good Youtube video!

I did a lot of river fishing at home in Louisiana and did it a few times, did it on a lake once. I was fortunate enough that the sandbars I hit were narrow and I was on plane running at cruising speed and I just threw a mud rooster tail for a couple of seconds and that was it. One of the holes I used to fish on the Ouachita River in Louisiana was about a 5 acre lake that connected to the river but was behind a sand bar with about a foot of water over it. You had to fly in and fly out to get in it but sometimes it was worth the effort. The #1 thing I can say after my experiences is don't let the boat come off plane and don't slow down if it's just a narrow sand bar. If you hit one that is part of a shallow flat that's a whole different ball game. Your generally in big trouble.

Last year on Whitney that was 3' down. Luckily it was foggy and I was going slow when we hit a sand bar. 40 degree water; Wisconsin buddy just jumped in with his socks and jeans on. Louisiana buddy didn't want to get in the cold water. He wanted to stand at the bow "so the back end would come up". He stripped to his underwear and jumped in, then jumped back into the boat. Then he jumped back into the water. I took my shoes and socks off and we all pushed until my Champ go unstuck. Later we are fishing and my Wisconsin buddy has his wet socks drying on the back deck. He is happily fishing when my Louisiana buddy sees a white sock floating past us. Had to use a rod to "fish" that sock back to the boat. Yep, the Wisconsin buddy has only one dry sock and a sunburnt foot! We still laugh about that day. But we caught a lot of fish too.

yes in a big creek with a 6'' tide fall. Got up on the bar pretty far with the tide going out. Fished on the darn thing for about 5 hours until it came in enough to get off. Was pretty new at boating at that time. Around 50 years ago.

Got stuck in Matagorda Bay years back. I had to get a guy in a skiff to pull me around to deeper water. Fun, fun.
