Dear all - Grass carp is my next target species, could you tell me where to go fishing for it? Nearby Dallas Fort Worth is perfect, but I am willing to travel 2-3 hours to fish on weekend trips as well.

Thank you!

You might want to check out Purtis Creek Park. It is near Cedar Creek Lake. At one time a lot of grass carp were caught there. They were trying to thin them out. Don't know if they are still in there.

Grass Carp feed much more actively in warmer waters. Luckily this is Texas and they're not too cold yet but they're getting there. Purtis is a great option, especially for size but it can be tough. If I were you and size was no issue Emma Long down in Austin would be my first choice. You can also find populations of them right here in DFW, they're in almost every lake. I've caught a few out of the Elm Fork of the Trinity.

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

All good recommendations. Start dropping some lines and keep us posted.

cheers

Give a man a fish he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you can get rid of him for the entire weekend!
