Im getting a live scope soon. I had someone tell me not to mount the livescope device to the trolling motor shaft and to put it on its own pole as the trolling motor could cause interference. Is this true?

I've had livescope for a year now mounted to the trolling motor and have had zero interference issues.

depends on what trolling motor you have. When I had my ultrex yes I did but I bought a garmin and I have no interference. I have my livescope on the trolling motor but will go to a pole after christmas.

This is how I did mine. Only use electrical tape on the wires.

Mine is on an Ultrex and I always run the US2 sonar at the same time as the livescope. Again, no issues. If you're getting interference it is more than likely an installation issue.

As in do not use zip ties? Are they an issue?

Yes, I've been told never use zip ties. I'm not sure if that's just because Garmin believes it will damage the cables, or if it can cause other issues.

You need at least 10g wire and and most interference if any is when the cable is rolled up or to close together, but this is with any unit. Also mounting it on the TM is the only way to go.if you ask me. A lot of guys roll the cables up and cram them down into the access panel on the bow. You will likely get interference when you step on TM pedal.
Also I would consider getting a on/off switch for the transducer for hot Summer days

no need to put a switch on transducer. You put the unit to sleep inbetween moves. It is easy.

Well I hope when you put your boat in shop, garage or storage after a day of fishing you don't leave your unit in sleep mode. To each his own I guess

I use a toggle switch on my livescope. I also use milwaukee batteries for my power. When I get home I take them out of the cradle and charge them. I know that there is no power going to livescope. In the summer going across the lake I use my toggle switch to turn off livescope and I cut it back on once I get to my spot. To expensive not to be safe.

You need to put a switch on the black box not the head unit. The black box will continue to run if you have the head unit turned off.

I have both of mine (head unit and black box) running off a dedicated 30 amp lithium battery that I just unplug when not using it.
