A buddy texted me the pic of the Lewisville flathead he caught, end of October. He caught it on a chicken gizzard (that's what he said). He is not in the forum. Just posting because I do not see a flatty related posts from local lakes and catching one of decent size is on the bucket list

Nice - any idea of the weight?

I've caught a few nice flatheads in Lewisville over the years. Always incidental to sandie/hybrid fishing, and as far as I can recall, most of mine have been on slabs or sassy shads.

👍. We catch a few out of Lewisville every year while drifting for blues. Biggest was 5 yrs ago 45 lbs. We targeted them this spring 2 trips and caught a 26 lbr and hung a true monster up in Hickory Creek that broke me off in a log jam. They are there but hard to catch!

Back in the early 90's I lived on Lake Lewisville. I lived on the point right across the bridge in Little Elm. There is now a massive mansion built on that point. Anyways, an older fellow that lived toward the end of that cove used to catch a lot of really big flatheads in that cove during the spring. One day I watch him pull a couple in and he came over and showed them to me. He said one was about 40 and the other would be around 60. Just saying there are some big flatheads in Lewisville. Also, just some general info. Used to wear the crappie out in the tree lines around that cove back then in April and May. Also, during that same time of year, any time there was a south wind over night the shad would get blown up on that point. Any time that would happen I would go the the point just before daybreak and catch whites on dang near every cast for 30-45 minutes until I had to leave to go to work. That was cor land back then so I assume it still is. It was at the end of Shahans Prairie road. A few of times I actually just picked up shad that were washing up on the bank and would fish with them and I would catch everything you could imagine, whites, blacks, crappie, cats, and even a few gar. Great place to bank fish if you can still access it. The stronger the south wind the better!

Paying attention to the wind is so important. It is really the most important thing that should go into the "where should I fish" equation in my opinion.

I can't keep track of how many times I have "followed the wind" and NOT found fish.
