If you swap a boat to lithium batteries, do you need a different charger or is it the same type? Depends on the charger. Some with agm settings will work such at NOCO and Minn Kota. Have to check that, I have a Minn Kota 3 bank. Trolling motor batteries fried last charge, would love to get a little weight off the back of my X19..... The MK precision will work with lithiums, the MK digital will NOT. Thanks, mine is older. I believe it is the digital.
It's only a good cast if you catch a fish... Personal Best: 11.62 lbs

Dan got a 115 mercury 2017 year model
Some of yall are running 4 batteries?? I dont have room in the back for more than 3 batteries. Ranger 188 Alumimun. I thought about using the lithium battery on the motor and use a PERKO switch hooked to one of the trolling motor batteries; then if this situation happens again I can turn the PERKO switch and have power to crank motor. do I need a different charger for the lithium battery.
thanks guys for the the great information.. Great to have a resource to help sort out problems. wild bill

I had the same problem, Dead battery at the end of the day. I bought NOCO Boost HD GB 2000 amp 12 volt from Amazon $199.00. Never will have that problem again. They say the charge will last for months. It has its own cover, but I bought a grip bag from Harbor Freight, I keep it in dry storage.

I read an article in one of the bass fishing publications I get about them. I've been interested in them as well, so the article really got my attention. A guy decided he'd install them for his trolling motor and wanted to see how long they'd last. He stated at 13.5 hours of steady running he finally gave up not the batteries.

Lithium has no forgiveness...meaning when they go dead, they are done for the day. I would stick with a 31sized AGM battery for your outboard and accessories. I would use lithium for the trolling motor batts, and a seperate 40AH lithium for the livescope. This is how I have mine set up and it works awesome! I bought the 40AH small lithium for livescope on ebay for $125. I just bought two of the CHINS 100AH 12v batts for my lowrance ghost. They are awesome! $350 each, but worth it to me. I kept the 31AGM NAPA battery for my outboard, and it runs 3 graphs and livewells and lights. Doing this it also freed up 130# of weight out of the back of the boat. What model skeeter are you running? wondering if 2 100AH will tow my Eyra. I've got a Ghost on my boat as well. If you could send me the link of where you got your batteries I'd appreciate it.

I’ve been considering going lithium and probably will as soon as I have to replace my lead acid batteries. I’ve been doing some research and there are two different kinds of lithium batteries in the marine world; lithium Ion and lithium iron. Lithium iron batteries are far cheaper the than lithium ion and from what I’ve read will out perform lithium ion units. I also read an article in one of the fishing publications I subscribe to where a guy had recently decided to test the durability of his lithium batteries in his rig by seeing how long he could troll before they gave up. He trolled for 13.5 hours and HE gave up. They were still going strong. If you spend a lot of time on the water they are worth the investment no doubt.

LiPo4 are safer than regular lithiums, you want a marine battery, because regular lithiums don’t like water.

You've killed the battery ONE time and your going to drop a fortune on Lithiums? They die too. Wouldn't a more reasonable fix be a pair of jumper cables to light off the motor jumping from a trolling motor battery the next time this MIGHT happen? That and next time your starter battery needs changed move up to a larger capacity at that time. Keep that money in your pocket for better toys.
