Anyone tried? Does it last/hold up long term?

Most of the UV activated epoxies dry with a matte finish. I would just buy a small kit of rod building epoxy as it's inexpensive.

Cyanoacrylate (super glue). Get the slow cure and instant activator. Slowly spin the rod until the glue is how ya like it. Then spray the activator. It will be crystal clear and dry in about 3-5 seconds.

I use the super glue trick when restoring super high end pool cues. It is even sandable and polishes the same as automotive clear coating, will not yellow over time, and is easy.

I did ONCE !
Was out of rod guide 2 part finish. so I tried it. When dry it was about twice as thick and looked like someone who didn't know what they were doing had done it.

I thought it might not last like slow cure epoxy does, I use pro kote its just a pain waiting 6 hours for that stuff to cure on the rod turner

Get an alcohol burner so it wont discolor. and add a little heat while turning.
Or if you want a cool "smoke" look use an ignitor.

confused that makes pro kote more liquid and drip, good for leveling out but does nothing to speed curing time

Any advantages over pro kote? I only use pro kote because they sell single rod syringe kits and makes it easy for one and two guide repairs. No reason to buy bulk, the epoxy does not age well if not used in a year.
