Took both my son's - Regi and Nathan, and Regi's girlfriend Alondra out for a few hours Sunday morning. It was Alondra's birthday, and she wanted to go fishing. Was about 42 degrees and 7-8 S wind when we left the dock about 7 am. Forecast said wind would turn to west as day went on...
I had caught some bait Sat. evening, so we headed to some channels and drops and started graphing. Water was 61-62 degrees. Started marking bait and fish at the first stop in about 32', and went to work. Alondra had not fished much, and not in several years, so she was very excited. I put out some big bait/big hook rigs, but also a couple of smaller hooks, as I wanted to make sure we caught something.
Took about 30 minutes and several small bites with no takedowns, before we finally got a decent bite. Small eater, but at least the skunk was off, and Alondra had caught a fish. About 10 minutes later, got a good bite, and boys said let her have it. Turned out to be a really good bite, and fight, and we put a 20 pounder in the boat. By far the largest fish she had ever caught, and she was thrilled. Boys took turns on a couple of eaters, along with Alondra, and then had a good takedown and Nathan put a very feisty 11 lb fish on deck.
Wind was up and down to about nothing a couple of times, and did move to west some, was more work to stay on track than I liked, but all good in the end. Ended up with about a dozen fish caught in about 4 hours (all released)... not on fire, but a very good trip. Everyone was happy. Was some trash talking from Alondra and Nathan to Regi... he was a little undersized. LOL
Will be 3 weeks or so before I can fish again due to work and family travel with holidays, so a good teaser for cooler water to come - and hopefully bigger fish!
Hope everyone else had a good weekend too!

All that persistence and hard work is starting to pay off Ken! Any time you can land a 20lbr is a good day in my book and any day you put someone on a PB is a great day! Looks like the lightbulbs are starting to turn on for you and everything will start to get a little easier now. ðŸ€ðŸ€ðŸ€

I still have a lot more questions than answers, but having fun! Hunting these fish is addictive! And I love seeing the kids and friends have fun catching fish.
