Saw this fly design presented by the Fly-fishing the Sam folks and thought I'd give it a try. I didn't have all the materials on hand, but did a little bit of recipe substitution:

Caught a decent enough perch in a little creek. It was a bit cold so the grubsteak successfully overcame some reluctance. Also tried it on the Guadalupe, in case it was magical on trout, but no luck.
