Great looking flys The eyelash yarn is a great product and makes a good fly. I used it on the bait fish fly in the previous post. Most of my fishing is for stripers on lake Texoma where I live but I love the coast and redfish!!!

Is the eyelash yarn used in the body in place of something like an EP brush or other wrap material?

I tie in the dumbbells, then the Craft fur tail at the hook bend, then 3 wraps of Estaz on top of the previous wrap. then 3-4 wraps of eyelash yard, then a thin EP brush made in a dubbing loop, all of this moving towards the dumbbells. I want sort of a thin shroud of EP over the eyelash yarn.

Way back when, I omitted the EP brush and did another wrap or two of the eyelash yarn. I might do some more like that again. They worked pretty well without the EP. i still have a few of the old style without the EP, but coukd use some more.

The EP covering the Eyelash yarn tones the flashy nature down some.

I can get to thinking about how much flash a fly should or should not have.

That flounder has the old style without the EP and that particular fly had a Steve Farrar Blend tail instead of craft fur. I can’t find a photo of just the fly.

I figured I needed some of the redfish crack I used to tie. The wired slider it was called. The eyelash yarn collapses on the strip and open on the pause.

Got the rusty orange, root beer slider into action today. That and a tan Borski. Fish were shallow and chasing shrimp and little finfish.

Fishing is fun. I like trying to figure out what’s going on with the fish. Flies are the tools of the trade. The fish decide what works and what doesn’t.

Gartside Soft Hackle Streamers. Can’t wait to get them into action. They only look good while swimming.
