Went there with the boss man Sunday. Forgot about the Cowboys game, but went anyways. I got there at 12:15 and there was a line, so I jumped in. Second best BBQ I've ever had. (We all know Brian is first.) Sausage was the best I've ever had. Bar none. Those burnt ends things were pretty good. Brisket you couldn't pick up, it was so tender. It was decent. Turkey was excellent! Rib was very good. Pulled pork was tasty as well. **Disclaimer, I am not a fat eating kind of person** So the beef and the burnt ends thing was just not good...to me. Boss man really liked it all. Potato salad was good but the green beans were awesome. Service was spot on too. One of the servers came out and talked to us about the making of BBQ. Said they marinate the burnt ends (meat candy?) in Big Red before cooking them. The eye candy there was quite nice, lot's of yoga pants and apples to fill them. All in all, very good experience very good food. The plate shown is called the El Jefe and they say is enough for two people. There was enough meat for four, as we both took home some. They also sell their rub, for $20 a bottle. (ouch) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/11/full-61315-117276-hurtados.jpg)

Oh, and about 3 sets of people behind us, they came out to the line and said about right there, were going to run out of food. So we got in just in time.

Went for the first time a few months ago and really enjoyed, had the El Jefe and took most of it home.

I think their best meat is the sausage. They grind themselves. I wish you could buy it somewhere. A different texture.

Great BBQ joint. I still prefer 407, but it's a 45 minute drive (each way in good traffic) for me so we don't get up there too often. Hurtado's is about a 5 minute drive and is take-out for us since it's so close. The brisket, sausage and turkey are great. I think the ribs are good, not great. All the side are very good, especially the elotes.
BTW, if you order online today you can pick up tomorrow and bypass the line!

I've heard it's awesome. The best place local to us is Smoak Town in Royse City. I used to like Smoke Sessions, but their prices went way up and serving size went way down after they went from a truck to a building, and their sausage was never very good to start with. So I started going to Smoak Town and won't be back to Smoke Sessions. If you're in RC, they're down on 276, but they're only open Wednesday thru Saturday and usually run out of meat at 12:30, give or take a half hour. And sometimes they're closed if they have a catering gig, so check hours on facebook before you go. But the brisket is #2 behind Franklins in Austin and sausage, turkey, pulled pork are all fantastic as are their sides.

Skin was a little tough, but that flavor... I plan on hitting up Hurtados soon unless it gets too cold outside. Most places that make their own sausage is great. Goldees probably has the best sausage I've ever had. Zavalas sausage it awesome too. Terry Blacks is up there. About the only homemade sausage I didn't really care for was Pecan Lodge. I thought it was meh.
