I would highly suggest NOT getting the v6 turbo truck for pulling anything more than a lawn mower trailer. I drove one at PK for a couple days…pulling a 20ft Skeeter…and it was extremely under powered. It also seemed a little light and felt like it wouldn’t be able to control the boat in an emergency situation. All this is based on my everyday experiences of pulling a 19’ boat (but slightly heavier) behind my Tundra. The Toyota CONTROLS the boat.

Turbo or twin turbo…there is no replacement for displacement. The minimum is a V8. The EcoBoost just ain’t what I’d want to have to deal with, while towing, more than once or twice in a long while.

If you drove an ecoboost that was underpowered copared to your tundra your on some powerful drugs.

The thing was a dog. No drugs here. If it was bad [censored], I’d have no problem saying so. It wasn’t. I was completely underwhelmed. Only cool thing about it was the little turbo spooling up sound.

I had a similar experience in my brothers 2020 ecoboost. I had a 16' trailer behind me with probably #4500 or so on the trailer, It was a dog, all bark and no bite. I too felt like the load was driving the truck, now I know how those rickshaw drivers feel when a couple of fatties hop on for a ride.

The ecoboost pulls 4500lbs like it isn't there. You boys need to look under the hood. The 3.5l produces twice the torque at 2k rpms as your n/a v8's. 570lbs of torque is getting into 10-15 y/o turbo diesel territory. To say your Tundras or whatever half ton v8 you drive can out perform that, is ludicrous.

X2 on what Sam said. Either those trucks are In Limp mode or you two are full of it, I’ve got my opinion lol.

Out of all the complaints I have ever heard about the ecoboost no power has never been on the list, quite the opposite the power is typically bragged about and the fuel mileage while USING the skinny pedal on the right is beached about. I’ve driven several 3.5’s from different model years and they have all been beasts.

I've owned a couple of 3.5 Ecoboosts, a 2012 and a 2015. They both towed great, the 2015 was especially a beast. the low end torque feels like a diesel. Anyone says a 3.5 Eco is a dog has never driven one that's operating correctly or is not operating the engines correctly. The Eco thrives on low rpm torque, stomping on the stupid pedal causing a downshift while towing is defeating the whole premise of these engines. These engines LOVE to lug, that's where they make boost/torque and work best. You can't drive them like a N/A V8 and expect them to impress you.

My “imaginary ride” is a supercharged 5.7 Tundra TRD Pro. It is plenty fast. I am not impressed with 3.5 turbo Ford. Maybe I just expected too much, based on how everyone that owns an ecoboost raves about how great they are. They aren’t. They SUCK. This is just my opinion….don’t lose sleep on it. cheers
A little tip….if you see a TRDPro next to you at a stop light…don’t try it. Unless you’re in a Shelby F150, it will embarrass you Ford guys….I know. A jap truck….it’s anti-American.

Have a friend who had a super charged TuRD Pro when I had my Raptor. Not saying my Raptor was faster or slower, just depended on who got the jump on the start.

I didn't lose sleep. I forgot all about you. Yep, Ford sucks so bad Toyota is copying their 6 cylinder turbo. LOL!
