I need to do this to some of my old eva carrot stix, thats why I prefer cork you can just take a magic eraser or steel wool to the dirty cork and make it like new

Wow!!! Thanks for this. I have a few older Carbonlite rods with the grip being slick / sticky.

that looks like a quick fix for foam, thanks... the best thing I've ever found for cork handles is Comet Cleanser !!!... take you rod to the kitchen sink, get the cork wet, apply some Comet and use a sponge to work up a lather and work the light abrasive across the cork a little, then rinse... it'll look like brand new, and you don't remove any cork, just the grime...
