FortWorthBret and I caught a whole lot of native species this morning on Roadrunners and Cut Shad, including White Bass, Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Channel Cat, Redear Sunfish, and Freshwater Drum, plus, these two native critters: The spotted gar fought like mad, leaping clear out of the water and surging away in a nice drag screaming run, cool! Very strong for their size/shape.

Keeping this post at the top. I want an answer. I really enjoy reading your stories and the way you gaze into those big sad carp eyes and all, but I am thinking, these guys must fish ALL cotton-pickin day, EVERY day. Where do they get money for bait and where does the gas money come from? And perhaps most importantly (knowing that fishing and beer are kinda like....well....fishing and beer), where do they get thier beer money? And if they're married, where can I find me a woman that would let me fish THAT much? C'mon, inquiring minds want to know.

Haha, I wish I fished every day. I'm just good at making it look like I fish every day. Since for some reason you guys really seemt to want to know, I don't make much money, I'm sort of a freelance writer, so the pay sucks, but the hours are my own. Money usually goes towards food and bills, and gas, and the left overs go towards fishing, and beer. Also I've got some recurring medical conditions ( Do a 3-year range search for Hospital in Open Freshwater or Bank lol ) that prevent me from doing anything TOO strenous, so I sort of push my luck with fishing as often as I do. But hey, you only live once and all that, and you gotta enjoy it while you can.
Bret, on the other hand, has a "real" job if you will, but it's computer tech work, so he's sort of "on-call". Which means he gets free days off now and then, usually Fridays, but it also means he often works 2 or 3 days and nights straight, with no pause or rest, save for one hour naps here and there.
So if you really wanna work 72 hours straight at a time, or longer and a crazy hectic schedule, then I guess you want a job like Bret's lol.

Sounds like the job I had in college. I worked in the x-ray department at the local hospital transporting patients, typing reports, helping in the ER, etc....
I went to work at 9:00 pm on Friday and stayed until 9:00 am on Sunday. I worked 36 straight and got paid for 40. All meals in the hospital cafeteria were free while we were on duty.
If we were slow in the night, we all crashed on couches or in empty rooms, but if we got busy we might work the whole 36 straight.
Cool thing was I could come home about 10:00 am Sunday and wind down a little. Crash out about 5:00 pm and sleep until maybe 8:00 am Monday morning. Then I had until Friday night free.
I'll tell ya though. If we had a really terrible weekend (like a holiday with lots of wrecks) we were all pretty loopy by about 1 am Sunday.

Yeah, I had already put in my 80 hours this week.
And, LLELA opens at 7 am on Friday. I went to work at 9 am Thursday, and left at 5:30 am Friday. I figured a little fishing was in order.

Man y'all have a lot of fun out there, keep up the great work I live thru yours reports. John

Give a child a fish and feed him for a meal. Teach a child to fish and they stay hooked on something else besides drugs and violence. How far have yall walked down the river at LLELA? I have made it to the railroad bridge. Do yall go further down or stay close to the dam?
