Anyone have any experience or know someone who has tournament fished out of a bigger, higher end aluminum boat? Any input between glass and aluminum? Thank you

Interested in the answers. I've been looking at the Xpress 20 foot and have to say I like it. Jason Christie runs one.

John Cox fished out of a Crestliner Bass Hawk 1850 last year. It has a lot of great features. I bought aluminum this year and went with a Ranger RT.

I thought Cox has been fishing aluminums before the sponsors told us they were cool last year? Couldve sworn hes run aluminums for a while throughout the entire tour season...not sure but im pretty sure that is the reason I like Cox! LOL (none of you better pounce and take that comment out of context)

I have a bud who fishes several tourneys local to north TEXAS, he swears by it. Lighter, less fuel, rigged as well as any other, you could debate ride ( and he would be glad to) but tin rigs have come a long way, they're not your grampa's jon any more.
As stated above there are pros who use tin boats, Rick Clunn sported one in a classic along side other pros who also did. May check me on this but I think John Cox won in a tin rig once, I read that he stated the areas he was in would not have been available in his glass boat.
Find one rigged like you want and go for it. There is no shame in the game.

Cheaper to buy. Cheaper to maintain. If mine sits in the pasture and gets dusty it sprays right off. No boat payment. Love my Xpress X19.

Mine has the 150 VMax and runs 55-56 consistently w me and half tank of fuel.
I tend to run around at 45-50 most of the time though.

I don't fish tournaments any longer, but I did go from a 19' fiberglass bass boat to a 19' aluminum bass boat this year. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. I have no plans to run a lot of rough water on big reservoirs though! If I was going to fish big water in tournaments with unpredictable weather, I would lean towards big glass boat....but that is just my opinion.

I went from a 199 Legend to 1980 Vexus, boats are the exact same length. I did it mainly because I needed something that is lighter and easier to move into my drive by myself. As for performance the ride and speed were better in the legend (225hp vs 150hp). Other than that I have been extremely happy with my Vexus. Fished several team tourneys out of it over the past 2 club seasons and have dealt with some rough water and it handled everything just fine. The live wells are great, have not lost a fish, and the overall fit and finish is really good. The only negatives are I would like a little bit bigger storage box on the starboard side and with it being aluminum there is condensation to deal with. Both me and my fishing partner have been extremely happy with it and the only thing I would do different tomorrow if ordered a new one was put sea deck in the floor rather than carpet.

The wind will blow you around a lot more in an aluminum. Generally speaking if you fish shallow you can get by with tin boat. If you fish mostly offshore a fiberglass might be a better fit.

Me and my tourney partner fished JC Fork out of a Ranger Tin Can. Fished deep water most of the year in pretty high winds and did just fine. Yes, it's not as smooth a ride as a glass boat but it isn't terrible. It was a good enough experience it made me look hard at aluminum boats and ended up getting one myself.

Bass trackers are hell in the wind ranger is not.

Fished out of a newer Xpress X21 about 2 weeks ago. I was actually impressed. Pretty smooth ride and fished great as well. Not bad for a metal boat.
