I’m headed to Whitney with my dad and a friend of his on Saturday morning to fish for striper. Anything y’all would think this wind changed? Did it blow the shad to the south part of the lake? Curious on your thoughts.

Water might be off color for many lakes, and the water temp will be a bit cooler. But the weekend wind and weather report looks perfect on paper. But my experience in fishing for the green fish after a decent front is brutal. Bird blue skies, and bright sun sure gives them bass a serious case of lock jaw. But stripers and whites might be totally different. I would plan on being in the water before the sun comes up, and if you can put shad in the livewell. I think the early morning bite will be good, then slowing down for mid day. If you have decent electronics, you should be able to get on fish and have some fun. The good part about being early, is you can possibly talk to someone who has been fishing the lake and get some info. Any day fishing with your dad is golden, and it's the memories you are blessed to have with him. Let us know how you did, and what part of the lake you found them.

Im sure someone will chime in with some good tips on areas of the lake you need to focus on. It's all just a fishing story unless you get pictures ..

Don't know squat about Whitney but I am headed to my little slice of heaven in the morning looking for hybrids and blue cat.Since we had 3 days of gale winds out of the northwest I am looking at 3 creeks on the southeast side of the lake. The bait should be stacked up in them,I'll know after about 3 tosses of the net.If the bait is in fact still in them, the hybrids and blues will be as well.Depth will be my only question...........right now I'm suspecting they'll be following ledges in 20-30' of water in and out of the coves but I have been surprised in this transition period and found them in very shallow water ,10' and under.I.plan on making a day of it,so I hope to figure it out.................freezer is getting low so a few eaters would be nice.

It majorly affected texoma...today was the slowest day I've had in a long time. the fish were hard to catch and scattered in the deep water

Shad moved out of their “normal” spot to deeper water this morning. We ended up with 20 striper, only 4 were keepers. The others were mostly 17”, the smallest was 16” and the biggest was almost 20”. Most of the striper were really skinny, hopefully they will get back to eating aggressively again soon. The past couple weekends the fishing has been the same, lots of fish on the graph but they are not aggressively after the bait.

The catfish kept moving in on our striper fishing, we caught 16. Kept a couple catfish for my dad to put in the freezer. 2 huge crappie and one drum for a total of 40 on the clicker. The splasher did it’s job keeping the striper around the boat. The striper bite was best for about 30 minutes when we had a tiny bit of wind. Most of the morning the lake was slicked off. Creeks and river channel edges were where we found them.

I’ll post some graph pictures later, after I get the boat cleaned up.

Fun day with my dad and his friend.

Wow. Those are thin looking striper... Never understood their eating schedules... You'd think they would be little fatties leading up to spawning season...
Super badass ride in the photo however!!!

The winds of Wed-Fri did not diminish Tawakoni fishing yesterday. Caught 120 mostly really big sandies and a hybrid plus 2 short hybrids and a short striper.

I LOVE my NS Hybrid! Fantastic fishing boat! Had it for over a year now and no buyers remorse for sure. I figured out how to re-engineer the front livewell to keep shad alive and healthy and am getting the rod holder situation figured out too. Plenty of room to fish (whites/striper) up to 5-6 people comfortably. It’s really high above the water so the 72” Ulterra I have on it is a must.

Mine is a 23’ and I got the 250 SHO on it. If you are wanting to pull skiers with extra people in the boat the bigger motor is really nice. I like the room in the front with the snap out cushions. They come with a ski hook/pole in the back that is very sturdy. Taking my daughter and friends to ski/tube is really nice. Our first boat was a Skeeter SL 210/ Fish and Ski. NS got this one right with the fish and ski concept in a center console. Of course there are things I would change if I was the engineer but overall its a great boat for fishing and skiing/tubing.

Let me know next time you are at Whitney on a Saturday and jump in with me if you want.
