Which baitcasters do you recommend for speckled trout and redfish? Thanks

I don't use high end stuff for the most part because I'm too cheap but also because IMO there is quality stuff available for less. The best baitcaster for the money I"ve found is this one. They've gone up 20 bucks since I bought mine but it's been going strong for 3 years now with very little cleaning and some pretty hard use. I also have one of these that are solid but I prefer the first one over the second. Either way I'ma fan of Lew's. I've heard a lot of good things about Curado's just haven't had the same experience (opposite actually).

H2O Mettle's are inexpensive and darn good reels. I have a few and neither have failed me yet. Academy sells/sold them. Below $100. There are different models of them, different prices. Check them out. BTW, I'm cheap too!!

I've got shimano curados, quantums, ambassadors, and there's not much difference between any of them. They are all similar, if you don't wash them out and keep them lubed after a day on the bay, they'll all die a short and painful death..

I think rinsing them off after fishing the salt is key. I rarely open my reels up and lube them (most years it's only once a year) but I do rinse them with fresh water after each use. I'm pretty hard on my stuff which is another reason I don't spend a lot of high end reels.

I am looking to adding a baitcaster to the lineup and I am not a fan of running braid through the micro-guides. I was wondering what size line you would put on for inshore. I am thinking 15#.

We use mono on the baitcasters, braid on the spinning rods. Baitcaster is for topwaters, spoons and such hard baits, spinning rods get the nod for plastics.

I have used 6500 ambassadors for decades with 6’6” ugly stiks mh rods. I put 20-pound test mono on the reels. They are great for the bay, but a little light for the jetties if you get into sharks or big jacks.
