Headed this next week to o h ivie as title states first time in 20 years. I have been reading and keeping up with info. I was wondering if anyone would mind saying general areas where you can find smallmouth. Going with my dad and he has never caught a smallmouth. Any info would be appreciated.

If your in front of the damn looking at it fish the rocks starting on the right of the damn to the first point about 300 yards down. Always a few over there.

Pretty spot on. I would also fish the south side of the dam with cranks and drop shots

Brandon Burks does trips there. If it were an option I’d book with him and catch some giants.

Skip the rocks and follow that line west about 3/4 of a mile to the other side and fish the underwater humps. That's where the big girls live.

I know Wendell personally. He's also one of the nicest down to earth people you'll ever meet.

Thanks to all who responded. Unfortunately my dads outboard had some issues and we could not run the lake and we were limited to the area we launched in. We launched out of Kennedy. Fishing was a little tough both days. On Thursday we were on the water by 630am. We fished water from right up on bank to 20feet. Found fish in bushes 4-8ft deep and caught about 30 for the day. Almost all were caught on weightless senko, nothing bigger than 3lbs. I threw lots of moving baits/topwater sand did not get any bites till right at sunset and caught one on buzz bait, one on whopper plopper, and one on a frog. Friday morning was real tough, came across some schooling action and caught some on topwaters, about 15. But hard bite other than that. Don’t know if it was full moon or what but fishing was tough

So, you caught 45 fish in two days being limited to the launch area on a lake you haven't been on in 20 years- and the fishing is tough? I don't think I have had that high of an expectation for a lake since Falcon 2011. Glad you and your dad got to be on the lake together though.

After this past winter/spring haul of monster bass it seems everyone has high expectations that every other fish they catch on Ivie is going to be a monster. More times then not that’s not the case.

I wish some of you had to grind at a lake like mine to realize how nuts this is to read! LOL

Damn hammers in here I guess. If you dont catch at least 100 per day, or land a 10....days and trip was basically a waste of time....must be nice roflmao
