My ultrex foot pedal barely moves. I can hear the motor in the main box whining when you push on the pedal and the head moves very very slowly. You can grab the head and spin it with ease. Bluetooth steering and spot lock do not work either.
This leads me to believe the issue is the power assembly motor / power drive steering motor. Cables are worn but intact. Because the blue tooth and spot lock do not work along with the foot pedal able to move slowly , I am thinking the circuit board is not the issue. I don’t know. Could be both?
Thoughts? I have a video of the noise it’s making but cannot figure out how to upload here. You can basically hear the motor whining inside the main box when you press the foot pedal.
Thanks!

I just went through this. Replaced circuit board and foot pedal because that was recommended as the problem. Still same issue afterwards and it’s supposedly power assembly. Needless to say it’s off my boat and new ghost is on

Does it move fine if you use the remote?

I am close. I have Lowrance units so my ultrex is just asking to get replaced! How do you like the ghost. I hear it will fit right into the old ultrex spot I just went through this. Replaced circuit board and foot pedal because that was recommended as the problem. Still same issue afterwards and it’s supposedly power assembly. Needless to say it’s off my boat and new ghost is on

Ok. I believe the remote will work when the sensor goes out--mine did. It appears you may have a different problem. Hope it is under warranty and you can get it going again soon.

Well. I thought I’ve broken everything on an Ultrex that there is to break….now I’m worried! I haven’t had that issue yet! ![bolt bolt](/forums/images/graemlins/default/bolt.gif)

I've had my Ultrex since 2017 other than busted cables zero issues. Now I hope I haven"t jinxed it. there has to be others with the other brands that have had issues, anyone care to speak up?

I had the same problem, it was my battery charger not charging the batteries properly and eventually ruined the batteries, plus i have that damn power switch that keeps coming on by itself. I have taken this in twice for both problems and now switch is coming on again. Plus they are too damn noisy.

I have taken this in twice for both problems and now switch is coming on again. Plus they are too damn noisy. Fix that switch yourself. It takes a screwdriver and a pair of pliers…and about 30 seconds. The connectors that slide onto the switch are too loose. Remove the switch, squeeze the connectors with a pair of pliers so they are tight, put the switch back in the socket. The troller turns on when the switch OPENS the circuit. The troller turns off when it CLOSES the circuit. That is why the switch sometimes seems to turn on the troller without moving the switch. The connections are loose and the circuit OPENS when they lose contact to the switch.

UPDATE: so I ended up switching out the entire housing unit where the power assist motor was located. I ended up taking my boat to Sartin Marine were a gentleman name Brian talked to me through different options and ultimately replaced the parts in my trolling motor. While it was there he noticed the shaft was cracked and replaced it under a lifetime warranty. I could write a book about how great these guys were. If you are unsure about a place to take your boat you definitely should call these guys. Talk to Brian. And by the way overall the ultrex motor is a beast. I would not change it for anything else. I spent $500 and got a new housing unit, new shaft, cleaned and tied up all my cables, and even replaced some loose and broken plastic clips…. All while I waited. Had me in and out in several hours. Absolutely crazy awesome service.
