Making my first trip to Granger Saturday morning. Anyone have any tips running the lake or anything? Would like to leave with the same prop I start with.... Any other Granger advice is appreciated as well!!

Water is the color of green tea, as it always is. Not clear at all; so you don't need thin low-vis line. Granger is a catfish-crappie-sand bass lake. Best boat launch is from the three ramps on the San Gabriel arm; the launch ramp at Willis Creek launches into shallow water (2 ft) and the launch ramp at Friendship park (Sore Finger arm) is not paved below the water line. Last chance supply is the little gas station at the intersection of Hwy 95 and FM1331 (they do have minnows). Granger is at pool elevation right now, so no danger of running aground in the mud. If you go WAY up the San Gabriel river your prop may be at risk, but on the San Gabriel arm you are safe enough. If you launch at the Taylor park ramp you can fish some (visible) drowned timber 1 mile to the southwest. You may be able to find some of the dozen brush piles that are located along the west shoreline opposite the the ramp. The east shoreline is more rocky, slopes quickly, and offers fewer hiding spots for daylight crappie. The lake is not crowded in october, you will have no problem with jet skis and wake boats running past all the time. Granger is a shallow lake compared to most. Large areas are just 12 to 18 ft deep. I think the deepest spot is just 40 ft.
