Back in Denver when I was but a wee tot, mom always took me to a place called Apple Tree Shanty. It had quite the following and I still remember today how good the food was. And I also for some strange reason, remember them always putting one of those drink umbrellas in my soda pop. I think if I ever open another restaurant, I'd would name it Apple Tree Shanty. What about:
Billy Martins 3rd edition over off of East Lancaster in Ft. Worth. They had the best hush puppies you ever had past your lips.
or
The Iron Skillet. Kind of a greasy truck stop from how I remember it, but always good pie!
What was the name of the horrible mexican food place, think it might have been a chain. That was my 13th birthday present and I remember the being like eating plastic. It was not panchos...it was worse.

Another vote for Burger Chef. Took the wife there on our first date. I was a big spender back then.

Throwing a hitch in the get along. 20+ years in the Navy, gotta say the food got REAL good in the mid 80โs . Dang, some of those kids could cook.
Keep looking forward. Thatโs why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

The Mecca on Harry Hines before it moved to the high rent Eastside! Best Breakfast and Lunch ever. Also the previously mentioned Olde San Francisco and The Boston Sea Party. And the Magic Time Machine in San Antonio was popular during my time at Randolph AFB!
