1st spot we hit yesterday, a stones throw from the ramp found the crappie stacked on a laydown tree.
livescope saves so much time, by not fishing stuff that is barren. pulled 32 off of this pile with 19 keepers. this was the third trip out with livescope
fish were not super aggressive, but spunky enough., new moon cycle is coming, so I will try to get back on them in a few days. time to stock the freezers !

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

may start doing some tag along trips, on Belton. ect again for people who want to see the technology first hand. no guide trips. no fish cleaning, no babysitting... no tackle or equiptment supplied. just split expense trips.. I have over 5000 in electronics alone on my boat, insurance, gas, vehicle maint, ect. im running a garmin livescope 1222,. 2 humminbird 898s, and lowrance elite 5 downscan unit. if I cant find them, nobody can.

Some nice hogs in there! Wife and I spent a few hours on Belton yesterday as well. Spent a lot of time fishing that barren stuff you mentioned... laugh Found one or two here and there, but nothing like your haul. Recently installed a Helix 10 MSI at the console and have it networked with the Ultrex. Still trying to learn how to use them together. I mark a tree or brush that looks like its holding fish on sidescan, then hit "go to spotlock" and the TM takes me there. Pretty darn good technology. Problem is, once the TM reaches the spotlock I cant find the dang tree or brush that is supposed to be there.... confused 3 Lots to learn! Best part is being out there with the better half and enjoying the lake!

you need to drive over the waypoint with down scan to confirm again what you've seen on side scan - mark it again so you have two waypoints to reference. Then drop the trolling motor and use the 2D (or DI) built in transducer in the trolling motor to "stay on top" of the structure (assuming you have a graph on the bow connected to ultrex). or you can chunk orange marker buoys over your shoulder when you go over with down scan and try to fish the marker buoy.

Bow graph is a Helix 7 MSI but not the "N" model, so it isnt networked to anything. However, the marker buoy method you describe is how I have been doing it with DI, it just isnt ideal in water around 10ft or less which is part of the reason I am trying to learn the SI game. I have seen lots of videos where folks mark BPs with SI and then tell the networked TM to "go to spotlock > spotlock at curser" or just mark it as a waypoint and "go to waypoint". Im just trying to learn how to translate all of that successfully on the water myself. Im sure I'll get there eventually, just need more time on the water which is a good problem to have.

Depending on how everything is networked, when you mark something on SI it is at the rear of your boat. Depending on where the puk for your trolling motor is located you would be off by the length of your boat. Next time look at the back and see if it is there

Yeah I thought about that, but the puck is located right next to the trolling motor.

maybe think abt getting u a sonar upfront with GPS. they have some good ones that arent very expensive. split the screen 1/2 2 d, 1/2 gps screen. go to the general area with your console unit. stop the boat, then go up front with your trolling motor, and find the pile with your front GPS unit. you can then accurately mark the pile with a bouy.
heres something else many dont know, sometimes the GPS signal can be off by up to 15 feet so u must learn to realize when this happens. im not sure exactly why it happens , something to do with sattelite positions, but it happens . when it does, all of the stuff your looking for will be off by the same margin. so you have to look around a bit on the front sonar for it. when the GPS location is off, you will think the pile was dragged off, or storm washed it away but dont delete the pile. its likely still there.

MOOSE, ALSO,, this time of year, baitfish start grouping together near the bottom in shallow water, around 6 to 12 feet. you will think for sure its a brushpile, mark it on si, then go to it, and nothing there.
the baitfish moved. this even still gets me sometimes, the baitfish sometimes gather in formations that look exactly like a x mas tree off the bottom. it takes time to learn what to look for. this is another big advantage of livescope, you can see exactly what it is. if its baitfish, you can see them swimming around.
delete it and move on.
heres something else that can come in handy., go to known brush piles and timber in winter, when the piles are barren, take a screenshot. you will be surprized how sparce many are, with no basitfish or crappie on them., when you go back in the spring or summer, or fall, as your going to the pile, you can bring up the screenshot and compare it with what you see on 2d at that point. it can give u a better idea if the pile has fish or not on it.
Also I always add extra weight to my marker bouys, they will drift a few feet if you dont.especially in deeper water.
