Fished with Doc yesterday from daybreak until 4:30. Water temp in the mid 80s in most areas we fished. We split out time between Sunfish and bass dedicating around 3 hours to bass this trip. It is transition time on FCL. The sunfish are starting to disappear completely in some areas & thin out in others. In a few weeks I don't think we will be able to find more than a handful. Last year by October 12th they were all but gone. But on the bright side the bass bite in steadily improving. Yesterday we ended up with 194 Bluegill/Red Ear, 1 Rio & 37 Bass. Sunnies caught mostly on Gulp Alive minnows & all but three of the Bass were caught on swimbaits...the other three were caught on Culprit worms. Bass were all caught in 10-12 feet of water & ranged from 2-3 pounds each with 2 over 4 pounds. We had numerous double ups. Also, the weather was awesome all day long with light winds & beautiful skies..one might say that "It Don't Get Any Better !" & I might agree...[Linked Image]

Great post and some coolphotos ! Love that sky backdrop. Photo #2 is totally AWESOME! Great job as always guys. Keep up the GREAT year and yes it just don't get any better! fish

Side Note: The creeks and hill country rivers are heating up and the Rios are very active in their feeding mode before winter. Catching Rios each trip out now and prior to that I was lucky to catch one Rio a week. I think the BIG FREEZE set the patterns back and now it seems that patterns are back to normal. thumb

Chuk...I think the patterns are back to normal as well.

Leo...I do not target Rios very often, so am really not a good judge of how they are biting. I do know that Choclabdog (Allen) did find some last week that were pretty concentrated in one area. Me & Doc do make a great team...I always call him my "good luck charm" because good things seem to happen on a regular basis when we fish together...

Hey Vogey, Love your pics of the big bluegill you and Doc catch.

You mentioned a lake transition, do the bluegill go dormant in the winter? I thought that Fayette water says warm year round.

They do not go dormant but they move out into deeper water and stay there throughout the winter. Makes them tougher to find.

Can't you locate them with a fish finder? They should be in schools right? Isn't that what the ice fisherman do up north?
