how about the legality of this:

I used to fish below the spillway of Lake D'arbonne in LA, and we'd just fan cast bandit 200 series crankbaits. Throughout the whole area we'd catch largemouth, spotted bass, white bass, hybrids, yellow bass, crappie, goo, and gar on the same lure. In the exact same spots we were catching all of those, we'd also snag maybe 2-3 paddlefish per trip.

We knew we'd snag the paddlefish, and they were fun as they'd pull around my whole boat (they were 15-40 lbs.) and strip half the line off your reel on some runs. Is this breaking any law? (keep in mind we'd catch the target species by casting the crankbaits in the same areas). All paddlefish were released quickly without ever removing the fish from the water.

Then contact your legislator. In the meantime, you need to cease the snagging, dude. [/quote]

No one should have to ask you to quit snagging. YOu know it is illegal, and if I were you, I would straighten my act. You pull this punk [censored] attitude with a game warden, and you won't like what happens.

If you wanna snag go to Oklahoma where its legal! Other wise sir, would you mind not snagging in Texas waters? The regulations were designed to protect our precious resources, everyone has to do their part for it to work. Thank You

Do you folks think that the TPW and GWs read this site, and if so what will happen now?

Just wondering because, if it is wrong to snag any type fish would they not first give a warning to the guy, and if he is returning the fish unharmed to the water can he still get in trouble?

Sounds to me that he would have to be caught red handed with a dead fish that he has snagged before any sort of charges would stick.

No one said game fish. The exact species of fish was listed in the original post(smallmouth buffalo). Not a game fish by TPWD standards.
