9/24/2021: After being rescheduled twice due to tropical storms in the last month, we finally got together to fish their home lake today. The day started slowly at 8:30 AM as we checked out structures down south. The Lump, which is NE of Pine Island was empty of fish. Then we checked the area just west of Pine Island and found fish all along the drop-off, but the fish just were not biting. We only caught 3 after working them for about 40 minutes. So, we gave that up and went to the west side where Jim said a guide had taken him previously. We searched but couldn't find fish there. So, we executed the next step of our plan and headed north to fish the old 190 roadbed - Randall's and my old stomping grounds.

We started on the far west end submerged bridge and caught 4 whites, a nice blue cat, and a 19.5-inch striper there, but it was very slow. We tried the middle and both ends of that bridge before giving up and heading to the next bridge to the east - the Honey Hole Bridge. Randall was telling us that the west end of that bridge was one of his favorite spots, and, when we got there, it was indeed loaded. It was about 12;30 pm when we got there, and we stayed there catching big white bass until we left at 4:45 PM to head in - still catching fish. We caught fish casting down the roadbed, casting onto the top of the bridge, and casting over the bridge rails and dragging the Mepps over the rails. We ended up with 230 whites, the striper, 2 cats, and a nice yellow bass. We caught them on #2,3, and 4 silver Mepps spinners. On the way in we ran into some briefly surfacing fish and caught 3 more whites to take our day's count to 237. The weather was great, and just a perfect day of fun and fellowship with old friends. Here are some pics of our day:

Nice job Dennis and crew! Best white bass numbers lake in Texas as far as I'm concerned. The mighty Trinity River consistently produces excellent spawning conditions.
