Here it is . Apperantly I’m too retarted to figure it out so would some one care to elaborate and spell some of this out for me . I think I’m taking 5 full grown heifers and two calf’s ones a bull all black angus . A ballpark would be somewhat nice obviously I don’t know the weight .

Those numbers are per 100 lbs.
For example a 400 lb #1 heifer brought 1.28 to 1.40 a pound last week.
Yearling heifers generally bring a little more this time of year. Bull calves will fetch a little less than a steer calf but usually will weigh more.

Retirement best job ever.

They’ve been pitiful here the last 3 weeks. The lines on the right are the average they brought last week per pound, as in $1.50 to $1.85 a pound. They’ll weigh them for you. All you have to do is get them there, give them your info, and dump them out. Go get your check before they close or they’ll mail it to you.

Johnson county auction was packed last weekend. You might get a good return.

Seems here lately, driving by the sale barn it's over flow parking only on sale nights.

I sold 40 head last week and the median breakdown yielded $1.88 per lb. The market has been stagnant the last 8 months or so. I have another 80 ready to sell but I don't really want to right at the moment.

There would be folks selling everything they had here if they could get $1.88. It’s terrible, everyone’s trying to wait it out. The only plus is everyone has plenty of hay this year.

We are stuffed to the gills on hay, and still have great stands of grass and plenty of water, so I can't complain too much I suppose.

I'll never understand the price of beef on the plate skyrocketing , but we are not seeing it at the sale barn. However, $1.88 would get me hauling cattle. Hay has been good due to a lot of summer rain, I'm on 3rd cut.

Who reaps the benefits of the high beef costs in stores? Is it the grocery store themselves, the butchering plant, the feed lots?
