Bought a new boat in March. Running (bow) 2-12' Helix and mega 360. Pre-Purchased the Mega Live in March but tired of waiting and concerned about the unknown? My dealer said if i want to swap out one of my 12' Helix with a 12' Garmin, He will credit me for the mega live pre-purchase and swap me out with a Garmin live scope. What would you do?

I’d do it. Life is too short to be waiting on things like that when there is an available alternative that you could be enjoying right away.

If you’re happy with HB I would wait. Yah it sucks but there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Not to mention fishing season is winding down. I’ve ran all three brands and am currently with Garmin and am more than satisfied them. I just think it’s simpler for the average fisherman to stick with one operating system (IMHO). Not to mention the plug and play aspect of Mega Live (no black box) is big in my opinion. What ever you decide to do you’ll absolutely love live sonar. Next to spotlock it’s the coolest technology on the boat .

Have you updated your Humminbird units to see what the MEGA LIVE looks like on it using Simulator?

Get the Garmin Livescope now and be done with it. HB Mega 360 imaging + Garmin Livescope is the pinnacle bow setup right now.
The image quality shown in on-the-water demonstrations of the HB Mega Live has not impressed me compared to where Garmin is now on live-imaging. I like my Humminbirds, but they've got some catching up to do on live imaging, which I'm sure they will.

If you like the HB units I would wait. You really have enough right now to see pretty much everything you need with Mega DI and Mega 360. I guess the question is do you think Livescope is going to be that “game changer” right now? Mega live will come out if nor this month in a few months. They are already on the Pro’s boats, let them dial it in and get their results and input. It sure beats us amateurs doing the grunt work.

I ran nothing but bird units for decades, now have all garmin with livescope.
have not seen the bird live images but this weekend livescope helped us find catchable fish, mine is not even dialed in like it should be but works great. hope to get with slade doughtery soon to get it fine tuned.
go with livescope but be sure you get the button/touchscreen 12", makes it super easy to adjust things while fishing.

All I can say is go to a pro crappie event and see what they are running and you will get your answer on what works best.

HB is still having issues, that is why they are not out yet, it has taken Lowrance 2 try's and they are still tweeking it, HB will be playing catch up for a while. Go Garmin and be done with it.

The mega live looks horrible. Garmin livescope is cream of the crop, and I run lowrance active target.
I can backlash toilet paper.
