Weight loss will help with reflux disease.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Bourbon is very acidic and tough on acid reflux.

But it's so good.

Just know that there's a big difference in Tennessee whiskies like Jack Daniels, rye whiskies and actual bourbon.

It's a great hobby for retirement so I'm really just practicing for the big day I guess. Like others have mentioned, consider one of the wheated or four grain bourbons to ease into things and be sure and look at the alcohol content until you get over what we refer to as "the wall." Once you're over the wall you'll really enjoy the different flavors presented in different whiskies.

How would you describe the taste of Rye whiskey?

The usual whiskey flavors caramel/vanilla but with more baking spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.

Excellent. I wouldn't get too hung up on wheat vs rye. You'll find very good whiskey on both sides of the isle.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I am going to need a bigger medicine cabinet. I knew this was the right place to get drinking advise.

Well Jack's is a whiskey and Jim's is a bourbon... Tennessee whiskey, Kentucky bourbon is a general rule to follow...

Mr Beam does good, very good. Much better than Mr Daniels.
Love bourbon but much prefer Laphroaig.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Angels Envy is good to sip on.
