Starless, can you really not snag any fish speices? I am just asking because I really don't know.
When I was a kid (I am talking 30 years ago) we used to do that very same thing at the Lake o the Pines spillway. Everyone did it and I know it was legal then. Maybe that has changed and that is why I am asking.

Also - on another note - people really shouldn't call someone out like that on the forum.

i agree !

While there I noticed a fellow TFFer fishing. This individuals screen name on the forum is Fishist. He had a long stringer of smallmouth buffalo, so i decided to watch how he was catching them out of curiosity. I had never fished so I found it interesting to see how it was done. The way Fishist catches smallmouth buffalo is by rigging a snag lin consistant of 3 treble hooks about 8 inches apart and what looked like 2 oz. of lead weight at the end of his line and tries to snagg them. He is very sucessful at this. I would have called the game warrden but I forgot my cell phone at the house. I figured this was the next best thing. Fishist, quit poaching and learn how to catch fish the sportmans way, the right way, the legal way!

i agree its a little excessive posting on every thread, one post in open freshwater would have been sufficient.

I understand that this gent may be breaking the law, however, if it was that important to me I would have told him something when the violation was happening and not made a public display of it, maybe a PM.

It is obvious that this young man has feels differently about how fish should be taken and the limits to where he can push the law. This sounds like a recipe for self-destruction, or a cry for attention. Nonetheless, I am not placing myself above him morally or ethically. I am just saying he will get what he has coming to him eventually. He has a long hard road ahead of him if he wants to live his life that way

It was for me until I got with the program and grew up.

Awhile back i was throwing my cast net for the purposes of catching "SHAD" only for bait,I pulled in 5 huge Crappie in the net,Scared the Heii out of me,those crappie were flopping and my heart was pounding,I couldn't get those Crappie back in the lake fast enough,I didnt mean for those Crappie to be in my net however they were...All were released very quickly!!

Moral of story,We have more of a problem with some people useing a castnet, than we doing snagging Carp,Buffalo,Gar....

Sixman, the difference being that by accidentally netting them, they are not harmed and can be safely returned to the water.
