Starting to look at Pellet grills / smokers and would appreciate any suggestions as to propane or electric, features, brands, etc.

I am no expert. I am however going to purchase myself a Pellet Grill/Smoker. 2 Months ago I narrowed my search down to 2 brands & have now made a decision on which one I am going to purchase. I have read a lot of info on my choices (Pit Boss & RecTec) and based on the information out there I am going with RecTec. They have the BEST customer service, and their grills are built very well. The cost is more expensive, but I have to go with quality. My recommendation is a RecTec.
Reality. What a concept!

Get a stick burner. Pellet smokers are cheating, Tom Brady uses a pellet smoker.

We have a Camp Chef Woodwind WIFI 24 that we really like. We also have a Camp Chef PRO90x triple burner that puts out 30,000 btu per burner. I have the sear box and flat top if needed for the PRO90x

For me it was all about the MVPR (Maximum value to price ratio) And for my needs the Pit Boss Pro 1150 @ only $600.00, for me it was lot's of surface cooking space, Having the handle to manipulate the searing grate on the top front (L) and most of all being able to clean out the firepot by removing it from underneath. So far it has been a wonderful cooking experience

I have the Pit-Boss and fell in love with it. I did a lot of searching before I purchased a pellet grill. The reason I chose the Pit-Boss was because you could open up the drip pan and expose the meat to a direct flame if wanted and it works perfectly on a steak. I have smoked most cuts of meat and chicken, you name it, I have nothing to complain about. Fixing to buy another for the lake cabin

Pellet smokers are for people that make quest and smoked cream cheese with raspberry chutney on top.

I have had many pellet smokers in my days and I can tell you Pitboss is by far the biggest POS out there. Rectec is better then PB (not by much) as for the quality, but lot more expensive. If your price point is around 600-700 bucks Oklahoma Joe makes a very good smoker for that price point. If you can go a little more then look at the Yoders. High quality but still not bulletproof. Also Yoder is about 2-3 months out on delivery. First PB lasted about a year and it worked great for 12 months after that it went in the dumpster, I went and bought another PB different model I got about 8 months out of that one. I have a box full of parts and almost enough parts to build another. I bought a OJ and it's going on over 3 years now without one mishap. 2 thumbs up for the OJ's and the Yoders. And with all that being said, my stick burner produces way better cooks then any pellet smoker could ever think of doing.
